The Lion’s Mouth*

“Excuse me,” I say to the keeper.  “Can see the three girls, but where’s the male lion?”

“He’s inside somewhere,” the keeper says.  “He does go out – near the train tracks, just not in this section of the enclosure.”

“Thank you,” I say.

So, here’s one of the lionesses:

  
Not the best photo in the world, but they were sleeping in an inaccessible bit of the new enclosure.  It’s a brilliant space: set out like an Indian hill railway station.  Bearded vultures and langurs live there too.  The lions are Asian ones.  Our new male is from Canada.  Hope to see him next time.

Am now back at the parentals.  Think is better for me to be here at the moment.  Am very tearful and missing my Seb a lot.  Have been sitting in the garden with Mum and the fluffy monster.  It was hot and sunny today.  

Dad is snoozing in his chair.  Soon it will be supper time.  The fluffy monster has been fed and is thudding around the house.
