A magic carpet transports us to the airport door. Well, a taxi, but it still seems a miracle. No rattling along on a bus from fifty miles away. The magic carpet drops us right outside and we walk in the bright sunshine to check in.
Somehow we’ve managed to place our liquids in the right plastic bags. Make it through security.
Am just looking out of the window at Pret – see attached photo. Can see our aeroplane: he is called Blue Air. Lunch will be in Romania. Breakfast is a Pret egg sandwich and a flat white with skimmed milk and an extra shot.
The parentals are on a table elsewhere. Am staring out of the window at the planes and sipping my coffee and listening to The Kinks Shangri-La.
Happy Sunday everyone!
*1969. Single by The Kinks. Written and produced by Ray Davies. The B-side was This Man He Weeps Tonight. It appears on the 1969 concept album Arthur (Or the Decline and Fall of the British Empire). The single was not a hit but the band consider it one of their best songs.
