Lucky Jim*

Either I sleep through my alarm or it doesn’t ring because I wake up at 8.20am when I have training at nine o’clock. Somehow make it to the gym on time – jump in an Uber.

Work hard at training – see oblique twists in the attached photo. Also do a couple of the other kinetic machines and the pull-down seated back one, Chest Press, triceps dips and bicep curls. Trainer seems pleased with me. Seeing her again on Wednesday as will miss a week when am in Germany 22nd – 26th January.

Recorded Lucky Jim over Christmas so will watch that in a minute and more Midsomer Murders later. Am determined to finish knitting this scarf soon as it’s a commission for someone and I want her to be able to wear it during the winter.

Do my Body Scan Meditation and have a short but sweet sleep just before: feel really tired today which is strange as went to bed about 9.30pm last night so achieve eleven hours of sleep, which ought to be enough.

Here is my fluffy monster helping me with my bath four years ago today:

I don’t know why it says three years ago. Is definitely four years ago.

Am enjoying Ma’am Darling, my Princess Margaret book. Read a fair bit of it yesterday although haven’t read any yet today.

Supper will be Something with chickpeas.

Happy Monday everyone!

*1954. Novel by Kingsley Amis. It won the 1955 Somerset Maugham award for fiction and is considered one of the great comic novels. Made into a film in 1957 – which am going to watch now – at least I think that’s the one I’ve got recorded. There was also a TV movie in 2003.

I read the book twice (loved it), but never saw the movie. Did you like it?
